Squash Blossom Necklaces
The inverted crescent pendant on a squash-blossom necklace is called the “Naja" and has been found in various design forms throughout world cultures over the centuries. The Navajo would have first seen the design on the bridles of horses ridden by Spanish conquistadores. The Spanish are said to have gotten the design from the Moors. The origin of the name “Naja" is Arabic.
